About Shel
A journalist by trade and an adventurer at heart, Shel is a writer, editor, foodstylist, television cook and blogger — always collecting stories, whether on assignment or not. Her most recent passion is an attempt to tame the fire, from smoking beef brisket on the Big Green Egg to coaxing the perfect oven temperature out of a 100-year old McClary cookstove. She's an avid hunter, angler, gardener and soup maker who divides her time among the big city of Winnipeg, a 163-acre farm in Manitoba’s Interlake region and the great outdoors.
Shel regularly appears on Global Winnipeg and CTV Winnipeg to share recipes, cooking methods, food trends, new products, kitchenware and ideas for seasonal festivities. As a travel and food writer, her work has appeared in CAA Magazine, Outdoor Canada, Western Living, Westjet Magazine, Winnipeg Free Press, The Globe & Mail, Canadian Gardening and EnRoute Magazine.
